Hi mate

Sometimes this is because windows allocates it a letter that clashes with another device.

Not necessarily the case, but this is a good starting point. Look under Control Panel/ Performance and Maintenance. Then click on Administrative Tools. You then want to click on 'Computer Management'. From there, click on disk management (under Storage on the left hand side of the box).

See if the drive is listed there. If you havent used the driver before, then it is possible that you havent F-Disked it (given it a primary partition NTFS compatible). If so, you will need to do this. The drive should be listed in here. Right click on the drive, partition and format it, and hopefully all will be well with the world.

Hope this helps

JJ

its either not partitioned/formatted, OR its been alocated the ame drive letter as another drive.

both are nice n easy to fix

so this is a home made external USB drive? i have been pricing bits up for that just this week!

what HD did you use? Is it a 3.5" laptop one? thats what i was told i needed. i know you can get the cases cheap on ebay. Is it a simple case of screwing the drive inside the case and off you go?

where did you get the cased and HD and how much?
