im in the middle of prepping my engine bay so i can paint it i will be using alll proper paint and gun etc

the only question is regarding the paint

its bayside blue ( nissan skyline ) code is tv-2

now its blue metallic but there is also a pearl which goes onto the mettallic

most people ive spoken too havnt heard much of a pearl going onto a mteallic as its usually flat colours

do i put the pearl on after the final coat of mettallic obviously leaving the base coat to dry for 10 mins first or wait until the vbase coat is completely dry leaving 24hrs

what about laquer after does the base coats need to be dry or tacky

hi mate sounds like your using a 2 stage pearl. firstly apply your blue base coat until its covered, then when thats dry you apply the pearlcoat. As for the laquer just apply when the base colours are completley dry. ps make sure you use the correct shade of primer before applying the colours so the paint covers easy. hope this is of some help mate

wont be using primer for the engine bay just keying it up to accept the base coat the cars blue anyhow so hopefully shiuldnt make a difference
