Does it annoy you when people lie about their figures?

Wow, must be the biggest amount of replies I've ever seen on one of my posts You can always tell when it's on a slightly controversial subject.
I guess at the end of the day it comes down to what you can prove on the track but what figures do/don't we believe, engine dyno's, rolling roads or the owner? Does it depend who is telling us?
I kind of don't believe RR's, well not entirely anyway. I believe them to an extent but when I've had my car dyno'd before they've always been wrong. I'm not giving names but with only a 165bhp chip on my old engine I managed to get 180hp at a well known RR!!! I tend to think RR's owned by companies that also build engines tend to lie a bit...only from experience of going to them myself and what they've chucked out at me.
I do believe engine dyno's but again they only give figures in a controlled environment and not in a car.
The worst though are billy bullshitters and 'certain' tuners (who'll also remain nameless) who blatently lie about figures (and are also stupid enough to contradict themselves ) and you just KNOW that what they have cannot produce such a figure with the products that they are using! i.e. figures from the ass-dyno or not! It just annoys me that certain people blatently lie to get business it would seem. IH for example has been slagged off by certain people in order for them to get business for themselves...which is a bit sad really. I'd rather go to someone who's honest and blunt than someone who doesn't give me what I want but tell's me what I want to hear Why do you think so many people dislike Ahmed and Ian Howell...because they're blunt!
Freddy (as I think it was you that asked); my car got 355hp and 361lbs torque at around mid 20's psi at SCS. The torque is great all the way through the range right up to 5500. When mine was dyno'd way back in Aug '04 we had a problem which was a combo of the head spec and exhaust manifold and heat produced. No-one (including Ahmed, Harvey or IH) has ever worked out what caused the issue but we reinforced things (changed head spec) to prevent it happening again and so that it could rev much higher than it did before. Thing is that it hasn't been engine dyno'd again with newer spec head so I could not, and would not say it is blah blah whatever figures. I can only estimate given the figures of a very similar spec engine as mine which got over 400hp. The only difference being the manifold (mine is standard, his is custom). However there's been so much crap about what a standard ERST manifold can and cannot do. Yes, it gets bloody hot but the internal diameter is generally the same, if not bigger, than the aftermarket ones....it's just a more restrictive design. SCC reportedly have a Fiesta that is nigh on 400hp with the same manifold. Thing is that a lot of people who have got high hp figures replace the manifold automatically so people have assumed it is no good over the years. So, at the end of the day, we'll just have to see Having a new exhaust creates other issues...like boiling your brake fluid! Anyway full spec and graphs etc will be available to everyone in a few months

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I have and only ever would claim figures that i could support witha graph of some description but again it is what it does on the road that makes it a fast/decent engine/car package.

Their will be proof of my Power very shortly my dis believiving friend & i will get the postman to post it in a suitable place .
After that a R-R session on a proper road with neutrals present will see figures with the whole lot working. Please dont ever accuse me of bullshitting i always put my car where others put their mouth.
It was Chip who guessed that Power because in his opinion the 'PUSH' system will supply about 50% more that jet size which is 200bhp. Mark had to double the size of the Petrol jet & add 7% more fuel at the Top to compensate.
I remember his comment ' f**k me' thats all extra Horsepower Rod.

I know you can see my point - and as you know well there is NO point in guessing with quotable figures.
I'm pretty positive it makes a hell of a lot of hp - I never said i actually doubted that - I wouldnt like to "guess" though!
And stop bloody bullshitting! When did mark take order of his "Ass Dyno" TM equiptment?
Have fun

i did have a graph of my car making 351 brake and 392 lb/ft at 12 psi
lost it in the past 2 years somewhere during the renovations to the house
bothered?
not really, seeing as the car did a 154 top end run when it was only running 7 psi (should have had 9 but a pipe split)
also did a 6.99 0-60 with 6 really lardy people in the car (plus little ole me )
what power would i be pushing out at the time? i have absolutly no idea, but when my engine went boom and jim fitted it to his car, without setting it up it was seriously quick, and did a 6 second 60 sprint with a slipping clutch and 4 psi
the bottom line is that sometimes, even when it's in print, people still don't believe you, or they'll say "but they have their figures over read" or any number of excuses
yes it winds me up but i couldn't really give a shit what they want to believe, they are only kidding themselves

yes we all get beat by the "my mate has 500bhp in his RS 500" trump card That nobody has ever seen.
It hacks me off to hear people shouting about their daft bhp claims; 220bhp stripped Escort RS turdblo that cant keep with my std 2wd sapphire???
I tend to tell what it really is, cossie with filter and exhaust, stg 1 chip, maybe 260bhp if its lucky.Greens and 20 odd psi=300bhp maybe? Watch their face as they get beat by a lardy std sapphire Priceless
