Default heat rapping exhaust manifold.....good idea or not?

is it reccomended to heat rap an exhaust manifold to try to keep the under bonnet temperatures down?

thinking for my 2ltr nova, the air filter comes up towards the front of the bay and the grill is right infront of the oil cooler, rad and manifold. so not much cool air will be making it to the filter.

where can i get the rap from and how much is it to buy?

Someone else did a post about this and some people had their manifolds crack due to the heat not dispersing from the manifold

Edit: to say I think the one Im thinking about was on a focus RS

Yes its a good idea, you can get it off rainbird, or probably get it slightly cheaper on ebay.

Cracking wont be a problem on an XE one.

i wrapped my zetec four branch and it was fine. I done it because the starter kept over heating as its so close to the manifold. Make sure you use the spray or the wrap will just eventually come off ,like mine did. Im re doing it this weekend and im gonna spray it this time so it lasts.

Spray it with the sealant stuff that sets hard on it, it adds to the insultation properties as well as setting it in place.

looks wank though, lol
