Is yours RWD or is that Steves point, that if yours was you wouldnt have just sat there?

Get a Quaiffe ATB in there it TOTALLY transforms the way you can put the power down when pulling out of junctions and coming off roundabouts, the difference really is huge.

I like them so much, that ive got 3 at the moment

If you ever want one, let me know, a friend of mine can get them new for about 425-450, its a fantastic investment, and dead easy to fit in an F20 too (ballache on the F28 though!)

gregs is FWD with an open diff, and has "interesting" handling

wasnt just wheelspin, was so much torquesteer we nearly came off the wrong exit purely by thats the way the car was pulling us

I had a thicker shaft conversion on mine, and it made a big different to torque steer, pretty much eliminated it.
Was about 600 quid or something though :S

You can do it cheaper than that if you DIY it though.

Machine the hubs out to take astra CVs and get a couple of astra shafts shortened as tehy are thicker than the nova ones anyway.

Ive got one at the moment you can borrow if you want to try it out and see the difference?

Only takes a couple of hours to fit and unfit, its a secondhand one i have in stock, i've actually sold it to someone else now, but they dont need it yet, so if you want to try it for a few weeks it shouldnt be a problem?

fookin hell thatd be an offer! but ive never done it before so the few hours would undoubtedly turn into a longer timescale, and i wouldnt feel right driving around with the opportunity of breaking another persons diff! i WILL however get one from your good self when funds allow!probably the next couple of months!

If you have them then you wouldnt get much torque steer, they make a massive difference.

Its not me selling the diffs, its a mate of mine, let me know when you want his number, i dont get paid for referrals or anything like that, feck all in it for me, just trying to help out.

Where abouts do you live?

I can probably give you a hand fitting the diff if you want when you do get one, it would be a good excuse to do a feature on how to do it anyway for total vauxhall mag.

chip,i really dont know!NEVER changed a diff on a fwd car before!i just presumed it was engine out! so it can be sorted easily without one then?any special tools required?or just run of the mill stuff?

You undo the bottom ball joints to allow you to get the driveshafts out.
Then you need a gorilla bar or similar to get the inner cv joints out.

Then you just undo a dirty great "castle" nut on the side of the box, and the diff just pretty much falls out in your hand.

There is a special tool you are supposed to use for that, but i normally just use a hammer and a blunted chisel to knock it round.

Then you take the cog off of it, swap it onto the new diff, and pop it all back togther, pretty much all there is to it.

If i remember right though (while since ive done one now) there is a pastic speedo drive ring that pretty much always breaks, so its worth getting one of those in advance.

I did mine in an afternoon without a problem, and the mrs wasnt even helping me that day as she was just lieing their sunbathing, so in fact i ended up losing time cause of her cause i kept dragging her into the house to shag her in the middle of what i was doing

It really is an easy job to do

I wouldnt bother with TBs on an otherwise standard engine.

The difference is pretty minimal, better off with just the nitrous, that makes a fucking SICK amount of difference.

You will be running high 12s @ 115-120mph in a standard XE nova if you gas it well.

Fair enough.

He'll also be wanting a DECENT exhaust manifold and some good headwork.

Ive got a friend who does a total work of art job on XE heads at very reasonable prices (like less than a couple of hudnred quid if the head is in good nick and doesnt need seats doing etc), and he'll fit 1mm oversize one piece valves at the same time for a few hundred quid extra.

Rob bolts HAVE to be changed IMHO if you are reguarly revving to 7000rpm or beyond.

megasquirt + bike throttle bodies are the cheap way of doing it, and ive got a friend who is just about to start selling those very kits in fact, for about 600 quid all in IIRC

Awesome engiens the XE

Rev limiter will be moved up on the TB's

Base map will be a mile out if your CR is wrong, you will need it mapping

I think he uses 750 throttle bodies not 600 ones, but same thing essentially.

z20let gasket is a good cheap option for a steal gasket, less than 20 quid tradeclub!
