Default My engine problem.......

...some of you may remember i had a problem with my fuel pressure gauge...it came out of a working car and then was put in my Saff and it showed a problem....maybe i had wired it up wrong which was feasable and blew it....but it always went to 0 on ignition and when priming went to the right fuel pressure...except on boost it stayed static.....

I have put a new regulator on it which is maybe unheard of being faulty...but it all leads to that

1...The fuel pressure gauge shows no rise on boost

2...The fueling according to LM1 on a T4 chip and a GT35 chip shows at 22psi it is leaning off as the revs rise, upto 13.5afr

3...You pull the vacuum pipe off at idle and no change in engine note

4...I put 30psi via a foot pump into the reg at idle and the LM1 never changed AFR...car didnt even make any changes in note...

Lamda is in downpipe just from the turbo so accurate.

Fucked regulator? Imagine now when YOU put an off the shelf chip in and you dont know what your fuellings doin,maybe...KABOOOOOOOM...A very big specced engine could have been melted if i hadnt had the right equipment...as the car runs SPOT ON so no way an average person would know!!!

"IF" that is correct, the problem is the pipe. Its Blocked. But... i presume you actually meant no change in AFR.

Make your mind up, it either changes slightly cos it speeds up, or id doesnt change.. which is it?

That means one of 4 things then top of my head.

Pipe is blocked.

Regulator leaks to atmosphere.

Idle speed is VERY high already.

Idle content is so rich the extra air didnt allow the engine speed to increase.

....regulator deffo fooked...in my opinion i can do no more tests...i had fuelling for 700bhp on a gt35 1.06 housing map and the AFR read 13.8 at 8K it got leaner and leaner as the revs rose...unless my t4 is actually a gt42

Soon find out mate, new one with you by 1pm tomorrow at latest.

Im just confused as you once said it held the 30psi... thus must be airtight, yet when you pull pipe off, no airleak at plenum!!

1...Will check again before fitting new one.

2...Hold pressure from foot pump

3...Idle speed 800rpm

4...around 6% co at idle at the mo...need to trim that

....Stu you are right...i just thought no vacuum leak ...But it still didnt move AFR with 30psi in the reg...so if the pipe was blocked the 30psi would for sure have flooded the engine....

...infact the CO at present looking at conversions is around 8.6% that may explain no rise in revs!

You got a huge plenum fitted? Maybe the cam timing / plenum combination is creating very little depression in the plenum.

He's got the 10mm plenum spacer fitted, would this make enough difference to his diagnostics - I guess theory says if it makes a difference to the potential of the power etc. then it could do?

No, i certainly doubt the spacer alone would drop the gas speed to this level. One i built recently uses a 14mm one with a pair of BD14s and Karls biggest head and that still pulls 15inhg at idle no problem.
