pull of the seals and re fit the new ones with a socket that fits just around the metal rim of the steam seal tap it on. you may need to use a extention bar as a cossy head is a littel deep but make sure the valve guides are clean .the old seal could be hard to remove some time but if you have a steam seal puller it wount be to hard after fitting them make sure no seals have ripped when fitting them

chances are they will be F.tight spadge, without the proper puller it may well be all but impossible to pull them off - you may well have to split the metal down the side of the seal with a sharp screwdriver and gentle hammer, they will fall off then

you need 2 different sized sockets ideally, as the inlet and exhaust valves have different thickness stems.

before all of that of course, you have to remove the valve springs. so you need to hold the valves closed. easiest by removing head, or supposedly possible with head still on using compressed air or rope fed through spark plug hole.

I just done them, need the head off, cams out, hydraulic lifters out, valves out then you can get at them.

As above they are really tight, i couldnt get them off even with the proper tool which grips there outter edge . . . . so i chiseled (with a normal flat blade screw driver) the metal outter casing, then they just fall off.

The new ones sit nicley inside a 10mm or 11mm socket and can be gently tapped on.

Good luck mate

Done mine, as above they are a real tight fit. I also gave up with thte correct tool and ended up useing a pair of snap on long nose pliers that have a ring grip on the end...still took ages and a lot of swearing and cut finger

No probs mr cossie604

They are a bit of a bugger aint they!

I found with the proper tool to get them out i slightly scratched where the hydraulic lifter sits and it was hard to get the lifter back in, so i gave up and chiseled with a screw driver

As above with a gentle tap and screw driver.

Re-fitting the collets was the worst bit for me though. Done loads of them over the years and still dread that bit. One of that jobs where you JUST have to be in the mood.

i use an old pair of long nose pliers- i welded a washer on the end of the tips that was just a bit smaller than the seals then cut it on half (end up with half circles on each), then just welded two long bolts on the handles to make it easier to pull, as is said they are kin tight

you need to be more phil than del
