Default Any ideas?

My fezzy turbos been spluttering and it slowly got worse, I changed plugs and sparkplugs, then I just took efi unit off and replaced all gasgets ect and they did look a bit worn, iv cleaned all the plugs i could find up and checked boost hoses and checked all tight and for any leaks. She dosnt splutter as much as she did, but when i first start her up shes ok for the first 30 secs then when i put my foot on the excelorator she splutters....... any ideas........ could it be exhaust manifold or turbo or.......

Cheers

Hy ya mate

Is the ecu stable in the the footwell?

A friend of mine had a problem similer to yours and it turned
out to be the chip had come loose in the ecu casing and needed
to be re-soldered back in place.

When it worked its way loose it would cough and splutter and run
like a bag of nails.

Just a thought mate hope you get it sorted.

Cheers matt

Hi Zoe,
It could be any number of things Make sure that all the connections to the map sensor (on the firewall) and engine temp sensor (under the inlet manifold) are ok

Sounds like over fuelling

Cheers

I did check them and i gave them all a jig whilst the engine was running and one of them did make a slight difference when o moved it. i did take the chip out and cleaned the connections because it had a bit of build up inside of muck might of been the old silcone used to hold it in, dont want to take the exhaust manifold of because will mean taking rad out and my hands are all bruised and scraped from doing the efi no pain no gain!

It sounds like some kind of electrical problem. If you rev the engine to say 3000 rpm is any better or is it not possible to get it to rev

Cheers

It's on the under side of the EFI inlet manifold

You would have unplugged it when you removed the inlet manifold

There is the one that bolts into the inlet manifold at the bottom, I tried to loosen it because i was going to change it whilst I was changing everything else but it was as tough as old boots! and i gave up. Dad tried aswell but even his little muscles couldnt budge it , would it be that or the connection to that?

Oh the joy of cars

I think this sensor is in working order, could just plug it in and see if there is any change in the way she runs

Before you remove the old one 'which I know can be some what difficult'.
It may be worth just connecting up the new sensor to the wiring loom, and just leave it hanging in the engine bay, Just to see if it improves the running of the engine, rather then going to all the effort of removing the old sensor only to put it back in again

Cheers
