I think this could be good for ford...
I'll explain....
Maybe this might make ford get the finger out and start producing some decent powered cars...
Ie VXR Astra - Ford Rivals with the ST Focus
Ive heard that Vauxhall are planning a VXR version of the Corsa, so maybe that means ford will have to release the Fiesta RS afterall to try and compete with vauxhall...
Should be interesting to see how this all pans out over the next few years.

hmmmm interesting...
would be good to see Team RS pull their fingers out, fiesta RS would defo be a hit me thinks. Granted they lost SHITLOADS of cash on the Focus RS but they can't let poxhall of all people rob them of performance hatch market.

Lets hope the Iosis does the business if it ever gets released, Vectra VXR does seem good...
hatch wise i do think focus ST takes it, doesn't beat astra for power admitedly but does in most other departments. Only close call i see personally is the golf R32, thats impressed me alot...
but super competitive list with golf gti, seat cupra r, bmw 130i (
) also about.

not dead yet, but focusing all their attention and performance ideas on a diluted version (the ST's) looks as if they're slowly moving away from it...
Live in hope RS will rise from the ashes & own all once again.

I think the ST will be branded the Ford performance vehicle of the future, but i still think that the RS brand will resurface here and there. I cant see them leaving the whole heritage behind.

I cant see Ford killing the RS off forever, more than likely they will go with promoting the ST for a while, maybe another year or so, then bring out a new killer RS. Who knows, perhaps the new mondeo in 2007? (I doubt it though, probably be an ST version of that only).
Im only guessing, but It would be nice to let the ST versions run for a while then bring out a stonking new RS Focus or Fiesta.

Why did they prototype the Focus RS, only to bring out the ST

The RS and the ST are aimed at different people in the car market. We keep hearing that there will be a RS version of the ST focus being 4x4 when they find a good solution to the drive train set up for a 340bhp engine.

I know ford lost what was it nearly Ł4000 on each focus RS sold, but look at how well they sold, it didnt exactly take them long to sell the 4501 that they made...
Ford need to get the finger out of their ass and produce a decent powered car as standard. A Mk2 Focus RS with min 300bhp and 4wheel drive is what is needed, something to compete with the likes of the evo and impreza...

I dont think they'll bother marketing to compete with the VXR and the rest of them to be honest, they will probably concentrate on reviving jaguar and aston sales, theres more money to be made selling 50k+ motors than 15-25k limited run hatchbacks, and lets face it, their not exactly doing well at the minute.
Maybe in the long term future they might release an RS version of something but I wouldnt say its high on the list of priorities at present

i dont know if its just me but it seems like the whole of the country are absolutly gagging for another rs car even hardened italian sports car lovers still show respect for a looked after cossie 10 years on
lets face it when ford releases a beefed up car like the focus st recently britain goes mental for it you just dont get the same admiration from the pubilic when vauxhall do the same do ya!

just wait a bit, latter this year if all goes well, ford should let us see the new rs. the engine is being tested at the moment and it could be used in the focus and / or the new mondeo
I think you will find that ford will use the st badge like the old xr and the rs will be a more limited special hard core vershion

I hope they do bring one out, but would've thought by now something would have transpired when you think how many RS models they had in the 70's/80's/90's
