Default Race Engines-Uni Project

Hi guys I have been set a uni project in which I have to design/improve a beathing system (intake and exhaust) for a race engine. I need to choose an engine on which to apply the design.

Just woundered if anyone could suggest an engine? Basically its needs to be used in a race series (preferably many) and there must be information/drawings/figures available for it so I can obtain the details/dimensions.

Thanks

Colin

PS links/websites would be a great help

Something like a zetec used in lots of single seater series? I'd stay away from an f1 engine or something as chances are improving what they already have would be extremely hard.

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

Turby2: Well I need to reproduce the engine in CAD so I need technical drawings of the engine really. Also if we are going to produce new manifolds etc I will measurements for inlet/outlet ports and it would be handy to have some performance measurements to calibrate my calcualtions from and compare the new design to.

Cheers

Colin
