haha.....ya right.... So either the captain of the RS6 was blindfolded and felt sorry for you or the engine was only running on 2 cylinders
Im own and drive many fast cars and honestly, unless the Saph has been at Martin Reyland or Mike Rainbird with a cheque of 15000 quid there is no way u even get close to an RS6´s exhaust pipe other than in a parking lot....
cheers,

Hi Mike,
Just done some quick research and the RS6 already uses a two-piece disc with alloy centre (front and rear), hence why the OE ones are so expensive.
However, the OE Pagid pads are too soft and catch fire if pushed hard (as you know ). My recommendation would be to bite the bullit and replace the OE discs, but go for the higher spec Pagid pads (not sure what compound, but if you ask here www.rs6.com they will be able to tell you the exact ones), braided hoses and some Castrol SRF brake fluid.
With this fitted, the brakes are good enough to drive round the Ring with no problems. However, you do have to adopt the "brake hard and for short periods" type of braking to protect them from over-heating, as the car weighs so much.
You can get replacement all steel discs, but they are a lot heavier and won't be as good as the OE ones (but will be cheaper, but will last even shorter).

it's been a problem for almost all the car mags that tested the rs6
they all complained that the brakes weren't up to the job of stopping the car consistently after some high speed runs
there was a write up in top gear where they set fire to the brakes too
so i'd say mike was right in his thinking about the pads, but if you go for pads that don't catch fire, you have to go with the limited lifetime of the components

The Pagid pads are "disc friendly", it is just if you put too much heat into the discs you get a problem, hence the braking late, but HARD method of braking to prevent warpage.
Obviously the pads will wear out a lot more quickly with this method.
The other thing is to somehow remove 300kg out of the car .

I went round the outside of one on a roundabout trying to bait a Scooby.
the scooby wouldn't play but the RS6 glued himself to my bumper.
Traffic cleared on the motorway and from 70-150 I completely nailed him.
Saph Cossie 1250kg, 380bhp = 304bhp/ton
Audi RS6 1660kg, 450bhp = 271bhp/ton
What's difficult to understand about that

Has to be said, would be hard to "Destroy" an RS6 with only an extra 30bhp too.... A little exageration maybe? Or he didnt try as hard as you did perhaps?

As said, I know what happened and he was trying, he was no more than 2ft from my bumper for about a 1000 yards whilst we waited for traffic to clear.
30bhp added to 4x4 transmission losses and the much shorter gearing of my T5 I would expect as well.
Don't care if any believes me or not tbh, I was there.
The cossie was slow compared to the bike anyway

Yea, I know Tiff has a liking for them, so do I.
I'd like one just like the one I beat.
A big red estate, looked absolutely mint (disappearing in my rear view mirror )
the new ones have got the Gallardo V10

All i can say is that my 400/400 4x4 is considerably quicker from 80-170 than my E39 M5 which incidentally has the same performance as the RS6!

it takes a lot for a car to be modded to beat summat thats meant to be loads faster...
if it was easy everyone would just put an exhaust on a saxo and go beating macca F1s

gets on my nerves when people say that tying to take the piss.

New guy asks a simple question about his car brakes and gets someone on his back saying his car's slow?
Wonder why people bother
I would have the guy's RS6 over ANY Ford - anyone who wouldn't has the Ford blinkers on as usual - what a surprise

says someone about a car with 8cyl 4.2 litre twin turbo against a 4cyl 2litre turbo
if someone gonna race in a standard car against another car and loses...so what its standard then...thats the risc you take...there is always a chance you could loose because the other car is modded....
if someone is driving around in a macca f1...and he is gonna race against an escort and he loses....would be stupid to say.."yeah but my car is standard"....

thanks for your words. I dont really feel offended anymore by some lil jelous guy whose car, in his words, will beat anything ....
Jelousy is the most annoying human trait if you ask me.... Im happy for everyone that has something he feels special about but sadly enough not all people are like that....
In the meantime, lets talk about our toys and best of all, drive em

I wasn't having a go at the guys car and anyone who would choose any Ford bar the GT over a nice RS6 has a few screws loose.
As for Ford blinkers. Erm I don't think so.
Out of 27 cars and bikes I've owned 2 shonky Fords.
A Ł40 Sierra for cheap transport for about 5 months and my Sierra Cosworth.
Broke that for spares over a year ago now
The only interest I have in Fords is the cheap accessible performance of the turbo charged RS models.
I wasnt slagging his car off, just bringing up a fun little play on the motorway.
He said it was fast, I simply said it wasn't that fast. Hardly calling it 'slow'

Comparing two completely different cars there.
If I was running one car as daily transport then yes, an RS6 would be better than an RS200
