Default lip on brake disks

just changing my pads and i noticed a bit of a lip on the disk edges, prob about 1mm proud from the disk surface. what is the maximum allowable size of this lip before disks should be changed?

Kevin, its not the lip that you measure disc wear, Its the thickness from surface to surface. Most good mechanics will take a file to that lip when they are servicing the brakes or fitting new pads, so you cant rely on it being an accurate gauge to disc wear.
