Default lumpy revvin on me mates L reg escort 1.6...wots goin on?

My mate has a L reg escort wiv a 1.6i zetec engine wiv efi manifold. wen he bought it it had a flat spot at 4000 rpm an if u had it floored u had to ease off an revs would clime to 7000. he got back box an induction kit an evryfin seemed fine, until it was lumpy revin an poor acceliration but no flat spot as before. disconnected mas airflow sensor (not under my advisement) and it improved but now its even worse an it don't make any difference wiv sensor conected or disconnected.

he's tryin a new mas airflow sensor and i've sugested a new tps and ecu reset, cud it be anyfin else as his engine must be gettin nackerd?

i've also herd horror stories of otha people wiv dis probblem an spendin over £500 an still not right.

please is there anyfin to cure it or does he need new engine?

thenx, Phil

try a new throttle position sensor-don't bother with a second hand one!
or befoe buying new one, drill out the 2xbrasss bushes from yours to make the tps adjustable on the 2 screws, swing it back one way and see if that makes a different.

hth
