Watch out for some of the shonky kits around. Some just use a length of hosepipe that goes between the outside tap and the self-cutting valve indoors. I wouldn't use one of those!!
Personally, I would do it with Copper pipe and do it properly. It's not that hard. You could still use a Self-cutting Valve, but use Copper and decent Pushfit fittings after that.
Of course you will need a big 16mm Masonry Bit and a manly drill for drilling through the wall.

Cheers for the advice Chris, this screwfix kit is like you said, a piece of hose between the tap and other thingy
How much should it cost to do it properly then you reckon?
