Standard rod's are roughly on the limit on 20psi boost, if the engine's been well looked after it should last. Mine's knocking on the door of 135k witht he original engine and still pushe's out 190 odd horses. The engine is tired, and will need rebuilding, but it's still going strong

Evening all
Thanks for all the support.
We're pretty excited to see what the new bits do, but to be honest we're not expecting a massive gain in top end power.
The turbo isn't a simple GT28 though, it uses a GT28 dual roller bearing assembly with a GT25 compressor wheel and an Inconel GT30 turbine wheel.
We're told it should be good to run 280bhp ish all day long and if pushed might see 300bhp
Obviously we wont get anywhere near that as we're pretty sure the standard bottom end would shit itself due to the increase in boost required run those sort of figures.
The main thing we're after is improving the midrange power and low down torque (to kick Daves arse out the corners at Brands ) , which is why the turbo has been kept small.
It should be getting fitted this week along with the new manifold so will be interesting to see what happens.
All excited now

It's reliable, doesn't smoke, knock, rattle and makes good power.
As soon as it starts to show signs of wear, we'll put a proper bottom end in, but despite the abuse it gets, and it does get some serious abuse, it just seems to hold together fine.

Good on u - i dont think it will break personally if set up right.
But, the turbo description does not make sense. GT25 or GT28 indicates the size of the turbine wheel. The compressor wheel is then described by it's diameter and trim. GT2871R is a GT28 exhasut wheel, with a 71mm compressor, roller core.
So, if u are using a GT30 turbine wheel, then the turbo is a GT30!

I'm only going on the spec sheet I was given with the turbo. I told them what I wanted it to do, and they specced it to my enigne, taking my requirements into consideration.

I know mate, a lot of these places just make up names for turbos Do you know the dimensions/trim of the wheel, or have a compressor map? What is A/R is the back? Very intersted to see how it goes

It will go eventually and a plan is forming to assemble a replacement before the current one dies and swap it over. But as all is well at the moment, we're not really in a hurry to do it.

slightly off topic now but someone please email that video to me
Back on topic, thanks to everyone who's replied or commented, I cant go through them individually cos it's late and i can't see properly anymore, but we still have a few more bits and pieces up our sleeves and it's going to get a whole lot more interesting - watch this space
Actually a better place to be watching is the mag, 'cos it'll be in there first
I am definitely going to bed now, and none of you lot are coming with me
