There's a tool for changing these...dunno if you can find a garage thats still got one...it would only take them 5min with that aswell. My old work had one but htey've since gone bust so it looks like im gonna have to fight with the little press we've got at my present work insted

Ive always put the rollbar into the lower arms 1st and then lever the arms back into the lower subframe and then bolt the rollbar back up the floor. Never had any grief doing it that way.

Done nowt to mine again this wk end but, have been down to SouthHampton and got my BBS split rims, stopped off at work on the way home and fitted up my new tyres to em as well

mate use a ratchet strap to pull the ends of the roll bar together
otherwise you are fighting against the strength of it.

lots of people on here use this method.. Ł5 from halfords!

They're fooking tops mate....all restored with magnesium centres repainted gold, outer edges repolished along with new BBS stickers applied....now got my tyres on but tbh they look a little stretched over...they're 215/40-17 on 8.25 and 8.50j17 wheels...needs 225 really.

peevee....doing it my way gives no grief what so ever, so easy it hurts lol. I must have had the roll bar down off my car at 15times now for different jobs and never a problem going back in with out the need for a ratchet strap.

i know theres a post about how to do this somewehre recently, i opsted in it

if you are putting polys in all the way then it's going to be a case of putting the outer tca's in first, just put the bushes in and put a few turns on the nut to hold everything in place
then put the bolts in on the arb to body mount, just a little bit again
then use the ratchet strap to pull the outer parts of the arb together to align the inner tca bolts through the crossmember
just make sure before you tighten everthing up finaly to make sure the cars on the deck so the bushes are sitting correctly
don't leave them all loose before though make sure they are done up fairly nicely but the last 2 turns you need should be with the wieght of the car resting on the bushes

Why are people having soooo much trouble with sierra arb's??? Ive never had any grief with them in all the years ive been a mechanic and that includes doing them at home on the deck or at work, polybushed or otherwise and ive never in my entire life on any car had the need to use a ratchet strap to put a car back together...and im quite sure factories dont either I must just have a knack...that and being naturaly fooking great also helps lol

LOL!!!!!!

on some cars i've needed all the help i could get (the granada was just SOOO tough to pull together)
on others i've done it in double quick time (20 minutes per side to change the tcas WITH poly bushes all round on the twinkly)

luck of the draw i suppose, although having air tools does make the job that much quicker

Quick Reply: poly bushes. weather stopped play
