Ford say the V6 cossie engine was originally designed to produce 'around 300 bhp', but that owing to the gearbox limitations on the automatic scorpio, it was detuned for production.
So the engine as we know it, taken from various old Grannies, gives 195 brake. Yet basically it's a good design of engine, and to me 67 horses per litre is pretty poor. Surely we can get closer to 100/litre with a bit of fettling?
What improvements can be had with a) induction improvements, b) exhaust manifold, c) exhaust system, d) ecu mods/'chipping', and e) cam choice?
And how easily/cheaply can these mods be done?
Also bearing in mind that for a road car (especially a 'large' V6) it's a pain in the a**e to tune for power and lose torque. In daily driving we often run the engine from as low as 1,000 rpm, so 'camming' beyond a certain point can become a frustration as the engine simply has NO pull at all below nearly 2,000.
So what experience do you have, guys? And what rolling road figures have you seen?

Apparently a pair of cams and a chip are all that is needed for appx. 300hp. I believe Top Boss was charging appx. 500 squid for this service. Now, above that turbocharging/supercharging is an option. However, this depends on how crazy you want it (Top Boss had a 500hp RS500-replica using a twin turbo Cossie V6), it will be dear. About 5000 quid for a 400+ hp car, which is quite inexpensive compared to how much is charged for a YB with the same hp actually.
Top Boss are well-known for their work on Cosworth 24v engines. Keep in mind several revisions of the engine exist, some are apparently more suitable to hi-hp than others. Biggest concern with this engine is the timing belt (chain) issue.
It's actually a very good engine, and in many ways, I wish I had another Sierra/Granada with that motor in it.
