Default changing head gasket on my 4x4 saffy,how hard

pretty much as title suggests really as would like to do it myself as ive had a couple of qoutes from tuners and it seems a pretty expensive job so i was wondering if it is possible to do myself and save meself a few quid,cant sem to find no old threads of how to do so i thought would ask.regards rick e

depends on your mechanical skills really.....apart from that , its no different from any other 16valve headgasket change!!!

i always use an engine hoist and remover them with the manifolds on as they are a pain in the ass removing them in situ

As Pugo said leave the manifolds on untill the head is off Also on the 4x4 the temp gauge sensor is at the N/S rear of the head under the water hose so remember to take that off. (its quite hard to see) On rebuild just check, double check and check again your timing marks and make sure you are 100% happy with everything before you fire it up. Ive seen some messy engines due to lining that bottom pully up on the wrong mark

If in doubt ASK im sure anyone on here who has done it before will be only to pleased to help you out. Last thing anyone wants is another cossie off the road.

as above really, pretty easy, just be carefull with timing, and with the dizzy being 180 degrees out, cos then it wont start, took me 2 hours to figure that one
