Default rear whale-tail

Hi all , I have started to get a bubbling/uneven surface on my 3 door whale-tail around the fixing points to the hatchback. Is this common and if so what is the best way to make a repair?

Thanks all.

Tim.

Its most likely rust building up on the metal inside. It will push the urethane the wing is made out of, making bubbles. Happen to mine over the years.

Not really, I've dug out all the metal backbone that was rusting. The bubbling quit, but need to go in and add a replacement bar of metal and fill with some kind of filler, mount to car and let set up, then rework the surface like any other body repair. I say all this but have yet to do it.

Thanks very much for info. is it a steel flatbar 2mm? I suppose stainless would be the way to go.

Cheers.
