Sapphire Cosworth performance rear brakes
Looking for a performance upgrade for the rear brakes on my Sapphire Cosworth
There don’t seem to be slot of options or choice out there
What are people running on the rear
Ideally I’m looking at 4 pots with built in handbrake

If you have the 2wd solid disc then upgrading to the 4x4 vented disc setup is a very worthwhile upgrade imo.
I have done this on my 3dr. I think the only difficulty is getting a set of the wider 4x4 rear calipers.

On my 4x4 I also have the 325 mm kit from Reyland. I have that to get the brake balance close to original after fitting 356 mm discs with 4 pots at the front. 4 pots at the rear will probably upset the brake balance, but that depends on the size of the pistons.

When going from 2wd to 4wd rears and staying the with the standard disc size is there any real difference in brake performance?
Or is the vented discs just needed when going for a bigger diameter?
Is there enough braking force on the rear to actually warrant hanging from the standard 2wd setup?

Down to personal preference some run without the backing plates others get new 4wd plates.
They cool much better due to being vented.

Performance wise?
Unless your on the brakes a lot especially being rears would it make that much difference?

Depends how the car is used really, on Ronnies Time Attacker on track the rears in std 2wd form, with good pads were fine at around 400-450bhp, but the moment we went over the 500-550bhp a set of rear pads would last ONE session out on track, we could literally put a set of pads in it, he would go out for 4-5 laps and come in with the pads white hot and no material left on them. the Std 4x4 Discs and callipers resolved the issue straight away, so they certainly work better in terms of cooling, but if anyone could possibly reach the limit on the road is another question.

Hi..is it still possible to get these rear disk guards....? As mine has never had some .. well since I got it in 95..?

My complete braking on my car was horrific even after a good brake bleed with quality Dot 5.1 fluid and fitting new braided brake hoses.
Hence why I have gone mad and had the all new 4wd rear set up, all new refurbed calipers all round and all new performance discs,pads etc.Hopefully it will be far better than the old tired set up.Fingers crossed.

I run 4x4 vented rears on mine.
Trick is good quality discs and pads and calipers which are in good working condition.
Reyland do a big disc conversion which uses std vented calipers so that would be the next step up.

I have standard 2wd rears on mine with grooved discs, but I also have 4wd calipers off my old saff so am contemplating which to use, I will go uprated pads in whichever I choose anyways.
I’m thinking staying 2wd as 1) I already have grooved/decent discs and 2) they weigh less, I know that sounds a little gay but my car will be going on a diet once going back together.
I also don’t think I’ll ever cook them as I won’t be doing any track days or super hard braking use (and it is the rear, the fronts are going bigger)
