Cossie Headlights
What's a typical cost of a set of new original Cibie Cosworth headlights these days? I can't find any online to judge cost by. I figured owners would have a general idea.

Can you still buy them new ? I've been looking as the reflectors in mine are starting to go so would like to replace them or have them restored if that's possible

I actually meant the occasional appearance a new set makes on the market from an individual, not new from the supplier. I wouldn't expect these to be stocked by anyone anymore actually, not after 20+ years. If I'm recalling the Sierra Cossies years correctly...

Interested to see this as I have a few headlights I have collected over the years "just in case" and I am sure they were not off an original cosworth. Lee, do you know why the lenses are different. You would think they both have to do the same job, whether a cosworth or not. Thanks David

The lenses aren't different, so far as I am aware.
Rather it's the fitment, the reason is the Cosworth grille is unique, hence the mounting point differs.
You can fit ones from lesser models, but you need to modify the tab for the same.

Those look like 3 door Cosworth or xr4i lights as they are a fair bit wider than base model/ghost lights I’m sure.
sapphire lenses are different from base model saphs,can’t remember the codes but there is a 3 digit code on each lense which is different for n/s and o/s.
Non Cosworth’s don’t have a code and any replacement lense I have seen does not either.
remember in the brochure it says “homofocal headlights” are fitted as standard,wonder if that’s something to do with the lense?

It would appear this is to do with the reflector as opposed to the lense. The following is copied from Wikipedia which of course is not always correct but who knows.

The 1983 Austin Maestro was the first vehicle equipped with Lucas-Carello's homofocal reflectors, which comprised parabolic sections of different focal length to improve the efficiency of light collection and distribution. CAD technology allowed the development of reflector headlamps with nonparabolic, complex-shape reflectors. It will probably get me in trouble but keep me and the set I pictured in mind. I have the lights but nothing to put them in and highly unlikely ever will have. These are in the US unfortunately so the cost to post them would be crazy too...

Re the lenses, they are exactly the same, barring the make you have, which varied.

Just a thought as they are in the US. Wouldn't LHD headlights have a different lens to cut them off on the other side. i.e _/ instead of \_. If this is the case they would be annoying to oncoming drivers. David

I think a small pattern blocker which could be done subtly, is the worst case scenario. I do not know which market these lights were meant for honestly. I will have to examine them more closely.
