Hello!

Car is 1989 Ford Sierra 3-dr 2.0OHC EFI.

My rear window defroster is not working (not a single line). I checked tension on window defroster element itself, where two wires come in/out of window, while switch was on and it showed 0Volts. Fuse is OK, so I put in 3 other rear window defroster relays from breakers yard (the grey relay, that sits in position IV) and every one of them showed 0Volts on rear screen heating element, while switch was on.

Also, I thought of a problem that you should turn the engine on, to make the heating element working, but does not sound believable.

What is the most common problem? Maybe all those relays were dead?

Also, I thought I should mention, that from 1989 there is only one relay for rear screen defroster, not two relays like on cars manufactured before 1989.
