Default cosworth overboost

hi im having trouble with a misfire at about 5-6k somtimes pops and bangs i think its overboost as boost gauge goes nuts but when i unplug the amal valve the car runs sweet but i was told if you unplug the amal it should half the boost but it boost 22psi with amal valve unpluged but runs perfect im sure the amal is just bleeding all the air off when plugged in and iv tried a diffrent amal valve and it did the same what would cause this could it be the atc sensor?

Check the compressor to Amal and Amal to actuator hoses for leaks.

Have you or anyone else "meddled" with the actuator etc?

all hoses seem fine also you cant adjust boost with actuator for some reason but could adjust it with actuator before so i think its all conected could the map sensor cause this

Check the actuator itself then, these go weak over time and so can also cause this, doubt it's sensor related!

Is the actuator rod too tight on the wastegate? And type of actuator is it and what boost does it run if you bypass the amalvalve and put the actuator straight on the turbo?

What he ^^ said, ignore my post before this about it being weak lol, as that reply was meant for someone else who has the complete opposite problem.

the actuator rod is just slipping over wastegate so as loose as can be also adjusting this doesnt change boost atall also its a forge actuator iv tried 2 diffrent springs and if i run pipe straight from compressor to actuator it boost around 16psi

It should do by LENGTHENING the rod you should have less boost?

It sounds like you have a -34 actuator fitted, which should open at around 14 psi when it's connected directly to the turbo.

When everything is working correctly and you remove the connector from the amalvalve it should go back to the standard actuator pressure I think. So that means that with the amalvalve plug disconnected it should also do the 16 psi. If yours is doing 22 psi then the amalvalve must be bleeding some air out, or there is a leak somewhere. Are the 3 ports on the amalvalve connected to the right parts? They are marked, W - Wastegate, R - Recirculate (bleed), C - Compressor. And what about the jets in it?
