keeping busy with odd bits ... these cam pulleys will be on show sitting behind my custom made cover, the before and after pic says it all

150 grit sandpaper worked a treat, then laquered for protection and to keep the shine

No idea, best ask Saph folk on here

It'll be a nice difference now the pulleys look decent, try it and see when its all back together. Looks more menacing

I couldnt bring myself to run without a cover Id be too worried a stone or something is going to get in and jump, break the belt. I prefer the look of mine with the standard 4x4 cover anyway.

Had to whore sorry :P

I was VERY tempted to go for the rounded standard one when ebay threw one up at the right price, i really do like these.
Mine however come with the big bulky square one which wasnt very easy on the eye

At first i thought perhaps its had a knackered turbo spraying oil into the pipes (it has a newly rebuilt turbo so its a possibility)
but then reading a diagram i found that when the throttle plate is closed the crank case ventilator / oil seperator pushes the air back into the inlet.

Who knows...

Yes i know 2 lads with blue corsa VXR's ones chris and the other Lacy

Well i think ill put mine all back again till it goes wrong! I would love to do what your doing but dont have the confidence nor money to do so

Matt Lacy it is, ive been working with him at ridgeons and he said he thinks he knows you but on the next breath thought it was a magenta saph. He said your having a rebuild and have spent alot of cash on it. So i am guessing thats you.

I did meet glenn the other week but never saw his car only in a picture, ive been told its abit of a beast! I am right in saying so?

Yeah ive been told about these meets and think he said you did go, he wants me to come along but i am unsure as yet! I take it you know shane too with the "pro level valeting"?

No my cossie is in the shed waiting for me to put it all back together! Its all money sadly Would love it on the road! To many jobs need doing though

yes i also know shane, glenns car is quite an animal... i'd love to see it on a rolling road but it made my stage 1 cossie look like it was standing still

unfortunately for him he has recently burnt out his clutch (i guess your asking for it running silly power through a standard old clutch)

would be good to see your cossie, whats needed to get it on the road?
Your right in the sense that they are serious money though, even just day to day running

He did say on some good 1/4 mile runs the clutch wont last long, should of got a cossie and smashed the gearbox instead

Ive got to get the seats in (might do that in a minute)
Put the engine bay back together
Get a paint job done for free might go for a patch work yet and just get bits done.
Set of tyres
Make a exhaust but little lost on that
Take the screen out and get some rust sorted
Put fuel in it

I am waiting for a sunroof so i can out that back also a bigger cooler and when they come ill be getting there.

Its little things like getting the bolts for the manifold as they cost a bomb! Get a 3 bar senor as i got sold the wrong one

Im sure there are loads more jobs but cant think at the moment.

But once ive got everything done ive got to insure the fooker as im 22 with 0 NCB

https://passionford.com/forum/restor...-pictures.html

Have a look if you like and your see how (crap) good i am getting on

Your more than welcome to come have a look but not alot to look at, at the moment it looks like its had a hard life lol

There's a lot of oil in that inlet, check for any play in your turbo to start with. Any oil in the intercooler?

Alos check to see if your breather tank was clogged up

this turbo is newly built with 360 degree bearing etc... only done about 5,000 miles, no play at all

problem is that i dont know if the previous turbo made all that mess, intercooler seems clean. All my pipes etc.. are now clean so through process of elimination i should be able to work out where its comming from (thats if it still is)

Im gonna properly clean out the oil seperator with engine degreaser or brake cleaner and see how i get on

yes mate, harvey has it at the moment welding up some detonation marks on one of the chambers.

Wont be getting any other headwork done but will be fitting new valve guide seals and re-grinding the valves, other than that just a general cleanup and de-coke... oh yeah rebuilt the lifters too

a few people have said that it isnt the best head skim they have ever seen by far but itll do the job and it no longer has the det marks over the firing ring which is the important thing

Got a brand spanking new level 6 ECU at a bargain price, just need to save up and get my MSD chip

The ECU connector on the loom had a couple of wires get hot and melted part of the connector itself, so i bought a chopped about loom off my older brother for a tenner and had the connector off the end, got a set of 10 new pins off ebay as i was only going to replace the melted ones but ordered another 2 sets today as im gonna do the lot... got started earlier but gonna get it finished soon as the rest of the pins arrive

Good progress, the skim on the head is detrimental to a good seal. But if you're using a Group A gasket then you have some give there if its not perfect. But ensure you get the block decked.

Al that head is fine mate, it didn't skim the best which is down to poor material, cossie heads normally skim quite good but this didn't strangely, the anti freeze corrosion in some places can make this happen aswell

Its no issue though we skim all our heads and never had gasket failure so don't worry mate

im sure it'll be fine, as said before im not using multi-layer steel or anything... its a normal victor reinz one (i think there called composite gaskets)
so should compress and work fine, also i'm not running silly boost, just 330bhp

When i win the lottery ill buy a brand new cylinder head and bottom end
