James, my old 3dr took 2.2bar for about 3yrs iirc, yeah agree though, some expire earlier than others due to what kind of driving/boost etc...

Its a weird one really as the car I mention, the striped 3 door had 400/400 on the wings so we also assumed it was a similar build to Ran's, when I had the head off it was stock and tbh unless I missed the markings on the inlet cam I don't recall it having anything but a modified bottom end, it still ran a LOT of boost for ages without ever having a problem

took it to mark shead today the guy proper knows his stuff and with in 30secs found the problem.......

its missing a restrictor on the top of the external wastegate so its booked in for that to be fixed along with a few repairs and fit a inlet spacer to my 4x4 set up and remap it to run the boost......

AND I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE INJECTORS AS MARK SHEAD POINTED OUT ITS GOT SIEMENS 83LBS FITTED LOL

but told me it should be 500+bhp when done fingers crossed

althought i did have it booked in for the end of the month but had a little accident and so have now booked it in for the 1st of april and sent it to the bodyshop for a full respray and repair everything....

BIG THANKS TO MARK SHEAD AND THE GUYS AT MAD FOR FOR FINDING THE PROBLEM AND REBOOKING ME AFTER BEING A PRAT

its easy for me as hes only 15mins away so its a no brainer

but as my bodywork needs sorting its off with a mate at the mo and im spending 2k cash lol for the whole car to be sorted ....

then marks doing the following on mine
fit spacer kit to my ported 4x4 inlet
fit clutch cable
fix the restrictor in my external wastegate
and a remap
and remove a snapped bolt in fuel rail

so will be ready for central day ......... HOPEFULLY....

Would a GT35 be sufficient,Im running 400 bhp with T34,not sure what size housing though, but if fitting this turbo would be better for reliablity,I may have sourced one.
Whats the going rate for a GT35 anyway and a T34 out of interest?

for 400bhp+ the best turbo in my eyes is a internally gated gt30 as you dont need to convert anything....

aet turbos do kit that just bolts on a cosworth for Ł1295 then sell your t34 for Ł350 and its cost you Ł950 CHEAP CONVERSION realy

My spec is currently,Light blues,Three bar map,ARP bolt kit,grp A gaskets, wire ringed, lightened n balanced bottom end,low comp pistons, polished n ported head with inlet machined to match ports,BD10's,and stage 3 hybrid turbo(believe this to be T34)along with all the other necessary bits, would I be better with the GT35,do you think the engine could cope with the power of this blower?Sorry for being a pest, sort of new to the cossie stuff and still finding my feet

i would personaly get a gt3076.82 with external wastegate and modded reyland 2wd manifold ....

and 83lbs siemens and if its possible a bd14 inlet cam (if you have pocketed pistons) or check comp ratio.....

and will be over 500bhp but will need a 4x4 plenum cover and a inlet spacer at least at this spec....

you could use a gt35 but needs to be speced to the car like mine otherwise it will surge like mad..... mine is as responsive as a t34 anyway....

if your not sure about valve clearence then the best set up (yes steve we know) is a standard exhaust cam with a ab07 inlet cam....

and then you need the 83lbs siemens and a reyland spacer kit and the turbo set up mentioned also though reyland and if you 4x4 is it L8 ecu if so get wasted spark and a remap at somewhere like msd or nms

and 500bhp will be easy aslong as your head is done well

BD10s are crap

AB07 inlet or BD14 (needs valve cutouts) with standard exhaust cam.

Do you think it would pretty reliable the way its set up just now?
I like the way it goes, just have the fear of death of needing a rebuild when its something I could have sorted beforehand,RR printouts I have are stating 404bhp and 404lb/ft,which on reading this topic seems maybe a bit far fetched or a timebomb waiting to explode

its the turbo that will let go and ive heard its something to do with cyclinder pressures ....

like i said i would get a gt30 and inlet cam and a set of siemens 83lbs and you will piss 400bhp but will be alot less stressed ..

DJMST,

I personally wouldn't opt for the GT3076 External gate tbh, i'd got for a GT3071 Internally gated, you'll piss 450+ with similar torque on the correct setup and good mapper.

What box and diffs are you running now??
