Default L8 Closed loop or not?

Are there any advantages in going for a closed loop chip besides lower fuel consumption and cleaner exhaust? I dont have cat. on the exhaust anyway, and i dont care much about emmisions - I care more about driveability.

I have read the description of closed loop chips on the MSD website and it all sounds good. But i know that many disagree, and likes to have the opportunity to set the co screw and fuelpressure as they wish.

So i would like to hear anyones opinion about this. Engine specs. are:

BD10 inlet
Siemens 55's
044
Mongoose
Rs500 cooler
GT30
2wd manifold
Portet head

My car had 200,000 MILES(320,000 k's) on it before rebuild, and would do 40+ mpg on a run without trying hard, emissions were 0.97% CO, 137PPM, spec was T3-34, ported head, higher CR, all this WITHOUT CLOSED LOOP, closed loop came about to protect cats(which I don't have), I can put mine into closed loop mode simply by a press of a button on the laptop, but it runs better NOT on closed loop, so that's where it stays.
If it is mapped correctly then it will gain nothing having closed loop, my car is not adjusted for the mot test and then put back unlike a lot, 0.97% is where it runs all the time, 100% perfectly.
Personally I think it is yet another gimmick to get money where it is not needed, ie on a car correctly mapped that doesn't have a cat but does have a decent ecu.
My advice would be to ditch the ecu you have(L8 I assume=CL) and go aftermarket where you are not tied, a off the shelf chip will never be as good as a proper set up in getting the best from the engine, see what local tuners use ecu make wise and have a chat with them.

Yes it might help your fueling get anywhere near where it should be (if it works)

Remember the best bhp and emissions/mpg rarely go together.
