Default Coilovers and Koni's??

I've been thinking about when the time comes to fit the suspension to my Sapphire 4x4 Cosworth.

The more and more I read about it, the more it puts me off going for coilovers on the rear.

The car was never designed for coilovers on the rear and knowing my luck it'll turn into a right nightmare!

So I was wondering........

How many people on here or you know of or have seen with coilovers on the front only?? and say Koni's on the rear??

How much will this upset the balance or would it work quite well??

I've had all sorts on mine, and I think the biggest difference is not the brand of suspension or whether it matches front/rear, but whether you have poly bushed your car or you have 20 year old rubber bushes everywhere LOL.

ive heard of problems with mk1 fiesta's etc as the strut tops arent up to it, but ive never heard of a sierra having problems.
just put strut braces in to stop it flexing as much with the solid suspension and it should be fine.

As long as you can justify it then I don't have a problem with coilovers.
IMO these are only necessary if your going for track days etc, too many people fit coilovers for driving around town at 30mph, i'd rather stick with koni's, have the compromise and still have a few pounds, each to their own.

I tow a caravan, with full boot of luggage also, never had a issue, if using a rear strut brace with the coilys which is defo needed imo, then brace it to the centre point(bootfloor) also, bit pointless otherwise though better than nothing.
I like coilys so I can run std ish ride height and still use the springs I want with the damping I want, no reason they should be uncomfy if rates are chosen well.
