Default What pistons

What pistons and comp ratio would be best suited for around the 500 horse mark?

You can use mahles mate with just valve cut outs and if the heads got good meat that will be around the 7.8.1 cr mark and will be fine..
Id prefer to use a cosworth short skirt piston and that will also last longer but of course down to money???
What turbo etc you thinking of using??

cheers danny

As said mahle are fine, and a excellent piston, need to get valve pockets done as you will need a different inlet cam ideally for 500bhp.
One thing you should consider is whether you intend to do any further mods power wise, as this could affect the CR needed at present.
As a general rule as high as you can get away with is the answer, as this will give far better off boost power, married to a decent mapping job.

Thanks for the replys everyone, we have already got mahles in with valve cut outs but think they may be damaged due to my mate going warpe speed and the timing belt coming off (tensioner failure) bent all 16 valves and the pistons dont look to clever.
Going to get them sent to harvey for a check see what he thinks.

The rest of the spec is
200 block .5 oversize bore
all lightend and balanced bottom end with arp bolts
standard comp mahles with valve cut outs (if still ok)
ported and polished head
bd 14 inlet
bd 10 exh
vernier pulleys
gt 30 turbo internal wastegate
2wd manifold
sweedish inlet with spacer
83lb siemens
coil pack
launch control + anti-lag
closed loop
500 cooler
alloy rad
turbo cooler
oil cooler
pas cooler

Cant remember any more, was booked into motorsport developments on sat for live map but not going now just back to bits AGAIN

No need to change the ex cam a bd 10 isnt much bigger than std anyway..
Id go for a bigger inlet cam 11mm lift and 280 duration and youl need a gt 35 for 500+hp..

Infact depending on the head spec with the cam iv just mentioned on the gt 35 you could do over 550 hp..

cheers danny

f he wants 500hp then he'll need the 3076, but if its the 3071 then he'll struggle to get 500, more like 450

the 3071 makes a brilliant road car turbo, when i get another cossie, i'll be going down the 3071 route
