Default front splitter

hi,
does a front splitter do anything?i.e downforce at the front,or is it more just for looks?
cant see a laguna style splitter doing much, wondered about the rouse and rs500 style ones?
may fit one if they do some good,
cheers again

I think the roose splitter works? IIRC Roose spent time in a wind tunnel working on his aerodynamics package.

Heres where size really does matter, laguna one won't do anything that you'd notice, to produce downforce it needs to cause a better airflow underneath the car, so the pressure becomes less underneath the car, the passing wind then pushes the car down.
If you use wide flat plates to clean the airflow up underneath the car you will get the same effect, but much more so, so the undertrays ford fitted were good for this.
Just look at race cars the next time you see them flip/crash on tv, they all have smoothed undersides usually with flat sections.

I don't think you need downforce if you're just gonna drive on the road. Different if you're gonna use it for race. I think the Laguna lipp is looking nice!

Depends entirely on speed, if doing long sweeping bends at 100+ you'd see a effect.
The reason why I personally would never use a laguna splitter is so that I don't have to worry about parking far enough from kerbs so the front bumper doesn't touch.

also with having a flat underside the downforce will act all over the car not just the front.

i dont think youd notice that much with a rouse or laguna one esoecially on the road, if you could get one made by someone who knows there stuff it could make a difference though

? With the Laguna front lipp, you DON'T have to worry about that! Because it's soft plastic it can stand much. BUT if you use something made of glassfiber/carbon it will be destroyed! That's why I haven't bought anything else then this.

That's why they banned ground effect in F1.

Paul do you mean Rouse splitter? looking at the Rouse splitter it looks as if it will channel more air up to the intercooler which is a good thing but you are correct Rouse kit was designed and wind tunnel tested

Also, the Roose Motorsport website doesn't seem to list the splitter (unless I missed it)

Scrap Yard.

EDIT: Just noticed your in Oz. I don't think you get Renault Lagunas over there do you? Your best bet would be to buy one off of eBay and ship it over. Do a search for a 2000 Renault Laguna splitter.

Lagunas are very few and far between in OZ.

Thanks for your nice comment, even though we did NOT discuss the look of the car. Some like it, and some don't, but if you haven't got any better things to say, I think you should shut up and keep it to yourself!

By the way, the car does not look like this now.

By the way Frenchy, I HOPE the Mondeo on the profile isn't yours! Talking about looking shitty, I think you're the first one to shut up! Going to fly with the car or something? Looks like it. Plastic fantastic..
