Can have a look for you since your local, but i'd start by checking fuse 22, i think it's 10 AMP, this controls all the instruments.

Sounds like your having a crap time of it!!!!!!!
I'll send you a text with my number when i get a minute, but my phone is on it's last legs. By the way, got a call off a mate yesterday, there's a black XR4x4 in Persley scrappy, so if you need any small odd bits and pieces it's maybe worth a look.
I've got all the wiring diagrams for 2 & 4WD's so even if I can't sort it first time around i'll get there eventually.

As said check fuse 22 almost certain to be the problem if not the fuse itself (Which only would blow for a reason) then the connectors not making good contact with wire underneath or corroded. Doubt it's the PCB itself but the test for this would be if the Graphic Display works (Centre console) as this shares the same feed.

It can happen it's rare though, more likely than not it's a simple electrical problem which can be confirmed easy by the method I stated above.

It's a power problem, but as I say it's not the fuse unless its blown for a reason normally it's the contacts corroded or the wire making good contact itself check continuity on the two terminals with ignition ON, also make sure you are getting +12V to one side. That voltage seems a bit to high for my liking you may have a regulation problem.

Are you revving the engine hard as this is what must be causing the charge process as you would not have any charge without battery light. What I guess has happened you revved it hard and then the battery light came on which would make sense as the otherwise normally live is acting as earth.

Power is supplied via the black and yellow wire that comes off and goes to fuse 22, it controls all of these things that don't work. As martie said in one of his previous posts, if it's not the actual fuse it may be the connector that the fuse plugs into has corroded under the fusebox. My white saph had exactly this problem and it took me AGES to find out where the issue was, fixed it in the end and then sold the car.
Like i said before John, I have the diagrams somewhere and can take a look at it sometime soon hopefully.

Then as I say check the connection to the terminal the wire has probably become disconnected.

No problem, checked about that blanking plug, you need a 25mm one, probably available off of ebay for under tenner.

want to bring this up again, having this problem with my dash display, rev usually wont work, temp hand always works and oil, battery, indicator, full beam and handbrake lights all work.
the rev hand will sometimes work if you play about with the connection or tap the screen, and the petrol hand will work if you pull the plug out at one side, what could be the problem here?

It's most likely the gauge itself, or a connection problem on the connector (There is only one for the whole dash) bar the ABS warning light (If applicable)

Another problem could be the PCB track has broken.

well i might try a new connector if i can get a good 1, its doing the exact same with the two dashes i have, i have the wiring diagram for it here which should help things, i wonder would a new earth help?

well ive traced the whole pcb and split the dash to see for broken connections inside but all seems ok, ill report back after i change the connector..

Oh ok, you never said you tried another dash. No not really, the green wire which connects to the coil is the earth, the gauge has a switched feed to it. So you would need to look at this connection, it's worth doing this first before changing the whole connector, bearing in mind everything else is ok.
