Default standard 2wd sapphire cossy

Hi people,

Just want some advice really.

I have a stage 1 sapphire cossy but want more out of it. i like having the T3 turbo on it as its punchy and comes in low so dont really want to change it. I was just wondering whats the best way to get more out of my cossy but on a budget.

any ideas?

As above, mine ran really nice on greens, three bar and appropriate chip.a worth while upgrade.

Just make sure it is the right chip and its setup right.

There may be other injector chip combination's available, but greens do come along.

4x4 intercooler's are fairly cheap, and a nice upgrade at this point, of course a pace would be better but budget in mind.

boost gauge, air cleaner and stainless exhaust you may have.

T34 with a .48 housing would be good, if you can get a good one, don't worry about loosing the punch they come on boost nice and pull hard. if you get one with a .63 use the 48 off your T3.

steer clear of cutback exhaust blades at this point.

don't get boost happy (he says) it may end in tears ask on here what it is safe to run.

enjoy

You could do as mentioned with more boost and different injectors to fuel for it, however the turbo is going to be the restrictive part here really you need to change, T34.48 is a great turbo not to laggy and provides plenty of punch, this is why stage 2 is skipped and people jump straight to stage 3 due to the minimal cost difference in the two.

There is one other route by the likes of a "Gunship" conversion, this basically means you can run just below 300HP on an otherwise standard engine (Excellent engine and turbo condition required) I prefer the method above to this, the way this works is allowing the T3 to spool hard which puts a big strain on it, injectors will be taken to around 90% duty, your turbo life can also be shortened.

Presumably you have an uprated HG?

90% duty at 300, my dark greens were at 80% duty by 285, no way would they run to 330, on the std rail pressure, that's why I stuck greys in.
Hard to comment within budget, but if I were doing it from scratch again, my first mod would be a different ecu, get rid of the apron strings that tie you to a L6 or whatever.

if doing the work yourself you should be able to do the whole lot for £1500

2nd hand t34.48 £350
-31 actuator £70
2nd hand greens £80 or siemens blacks 55lbs £150
msd or like chip £300 ish
head gasket and new bolts £200 (ish i think)
2nd hand 4x4 cooler £60 or rs500 style £130

then you'll need to consider a decent breather set up and clutch if worn

just make sure the essentials are done such as a rewired fuel pump, a MUST for all cossies, even standard ones!
you should also consider a fueling check or set up

So your saying all stage 3 cars would have to have fuel pressure raised or they won't run more than 285HP?? 295HP is the offical quote for the "Gunship" from NMS.

Yes you really need to uprate the head gasket, you could leave but it will almost certainly blow once you have more power.

NO I didn't say that, I said the set of dark greens 0 280 150 803 injectors I had were 80% duty at 285bhp, the point I am trying to make is don't assume, always get s/h injectors flow checked, mine had been just cleaned, so would have read a tad lower anyway, as newly cleaned usually do, seems not every 803 flows the same, unless some peoples figures are "adjusted".

Tabetha is right; some greens are on their knees at 300hp whereas others are ok at 350hp
