Default NOT a nice christmas

Car started fine, after 300 yards it started to spluttre, engine stopped.
Started again, drove a few yards, heard "plop", flames from under the bonnet, end of car.

Last friday I fitted one of Stu's stage 1 chips, REALLY drove well.
Must have been a fuelconnection or something that has come loose.
Was really cold in Holland this morning.

Sorry to hear that pal, not really a big surprise unfortunately, most cars fall into 3 catagories RUST/CRASHED/FIRE.
Was it a 2wd? The hose that goes to the regulator/rail is a really bad design, i know loads of people who's cars have suffered the same fate because of this.

2WD yes.
The small hose between the regulator and fuelrail was replaced, the returnhose below the regulator wasn't. This was the first thing that came to mind, must have been something like that...

This really was my dream car, Italian import, totally original, was going to keep it that way. I'll never find another one like this.
Thanks for your kind words.

Sorry to see this matey, but doubt you'll be the last, I replaced all my fuel hoses with much superior OPA, but a good heads up to look out for, the wanky fuel hose used on the vaux's is even worse, being cloth braided you can't even see the cracking when it gets old.

And this really is a terrible shame. Being from italy I'm sure it was 99% rot free.

But they are still out there mate. I've found an immaculate italian 4x4 just 2 months ago.

Nah, whole front end is gone, passenger cabin looked still OK though.
Chassis must be bent aswell from the heat.

Thanks again to all for the kind words.

Will be on the lookout for another one.

Oh crap man. Thats one of the worst things that could happen.

There are still some mint Italian cars, my brother has bought a rust free 4x4 earlier this year . The engine died a couple weeks later but it has been rebuild

So keep your eyes open

I got it februari this year, got all sorts of problems with, fuelpressureregulator, actuator, front discs, put alarm in after someone wrecked my doorlock, headgasket went, all the usual Cosworth problems.
I was at last confident the engine was good enough for stage 1, then 3 days later this happened.

Weet jij geen adresje voor een goeie gebruikte, liefst Italiaans of ander warm land. Zag er 1 bij JP staan voor €15000,-, is wat veel vind ik... (pardon my English)

I'm really gutted for you. At least you enjoyed and appreciated it while you had it. You sound like a genuinely passionate Cossie owner, and there's not many of those left. If you're quick, you might be able to buy another one before they all end up being cut up for crappy "conversions".

Thanks mate,

I hope to find another one like I had.
I've seen one in Holland for A LOT of money (€15000), but is has
white indicators, no turbo heatshield. That alone makes me wonder who
has been driving it, it makes me worry in some strange way.
Mine was exactly how it came from the factory, it never even had a radio
installed, there where NO speakers in the car, yet it had 60000 miles on the clock. I like it original, at least on the outside, thats for me the way it should be. I think it has to do with my age (i'm 41), maybe nostalgia.

That's ridiculous money! You can get them for less than half of that price if you buy them directly in Italy! Just take someone experienced with you. Someone's earning a fortune on it if it goes for 15k.
