Fighting body flex
I may have been talking out my ass on this side of the pond. Merkur guys are often looking to mod the car in ways that are pointless or counter productive. Exposure to all the Mustang chassis mods (that NEED it) germinates this.
Topic came up today on our forum about chassis stiffness and subframe connectors. I've never seen a thread or a picture or even Ford Motorsport docs that pointed to ANYTHING other them seam welding and cage. Even more odd is that the Merkur chassis has the 909 chassis plates factory welded in along with chassis rails the length of the car. Even has the extra pillar like an XR4i along iwth other US crash regulation meat welded in.
Has anyone over there done subframe connectors on their Sierra? Am I wrong in saying that you lot don't bother with these 100lb scaffolding experiments? I think they are pointless. Put a cage in it.

Adrenaline do sub frame connectors, mad rod has them afaik. Its something i've tried to get more info on but nobody is remotely interested so i'd be interested to see what you come up with.

Nothing.
I think they are a waste of time on a Sierra. Just wondering if I was wrong in assuming that no on there bothers with these.

I'm interrested in this too! Obviously putting a cage is superior but I need to use the car every day and not only with a racing helmet. What I'm looking is to improve the twist of the chassis somehow but without puttinga roll cage... I have installed strut braces to the front and back and the car became more rigid but not enough... How is this subframe in the pic connected to the car?

I fitted a triangulated rer brace (made it myself) and it made a world of difference. I think this is the best route.

Who makes / sells them ?
Thanks

I think the question needs asking, where do you stop ?
If you stop all flex, it will show up the next weakest area, do you really need it that stiff, bearing in mind the state of the roads, certainly here in the uk!!
