Default Looking for an 'old friend', D705SVW

I'm looking for the D705SVW Sierra RS Cosworth, Boreham spec group A rally car. Does anyone have any idea where this car is at the moment? I was part of the team that ran the car in the Netherlands in the 1989 season. At the time it was white, red and blue striping and FINA livery. I heard it was last seen in the early nineties in Ireland during some hill-climbs, but I don't know where.... Thanks!

you seen the carlos sainz wrc repsol car on pistonheads, thats a boreham built wrc car,i reckon its a investment and carlos nearly won the wrc in it.

theres a few boreham shells knocking about, last year ewan roberts old sierra my mates looked after for mike little and russell brooks was on ebay with a 2lr pinto in it.
that car was used by russell and when the heat for hire car went to the fella who owned andrews the now spare shell sat there. it ended up on a a reg plate and built back up but that car/shell was used in the british championship winning year.

all the good rally cozzies in europe are doing brewsters now,i think 4-5 years ago was the best time to buy a works group a escort.

No, it was Erwin Doctor from the Netherlands. Roberts is Belgian. The RAS built cars were all built in Belgian with 909 parts. The one I'm looking for is built by Boreham.

The 3-door RS Cosworth that Carlos drove was built by Mike Taylor, running on Spanish reg.....

know what you mean now, over the years i have seen factory spec, works spec, boreham spec etc all describing how the car is built and probably to increase value, but to me proper works cars were built by the works team.
then its ex works.
Boreham would build you a 3dr cosworth new if you asked them, the Doctor 3dr could of gone on any foreign number after 87,i have loads of pics of 3dr's and loads of Robert Droogmans in the fina 3dr.

it gets confusing with the R-A-S cars as they became the official entrant for ford motor company in the WRC therefore the "Works Team".

Thanks all for replies and looking for D705SVW. Found it.... It's now owned by Jason Lepley and still in original Dutch FINA livery as run in the 1989 season.[URL="http://www.jasonlepleymotorsport.co.uk/gallery.html"] Unfortunately, Jason has no plans on selling....

from what he told me last week don't hold your breath on it staying in fina colours for long,as stig was a top top driver who was a world champion in 84 and campaigned that car in the 88 european rally championship.
suppose its only right to put it back to ford motorsport boreham colours and how stig would of used it.

Couldn't agree more! In fact, Jason told me that himself a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure Doctor would do the same, if he'd owned it now...

afaik stig did 5 top rallys in 88 in sierra's although one was the 88 swedish in which he drove the almost plain white v6 xr4x4.
i have spent fookin ages trying to find the car above being driven by stig and it seems he drove one of the d---tar cars and d935uoo twice that year.
so that leaves d705svw it was hard but i knew i had seen it somewhere in my memory banks and after 4 hours i have found it,do not click the below link if you don't like european rallying with all the flavours and sounds a foreign rally can provide, its portugeeze commentry which ads to the feel for Stig and Benny the spectacular 3dr Cosworth duo.

1988 Rally De Portugal de Vinho Callapso

i hope when the Leplys get it back to Boreham spec i get to see it,enjoy watching D705SVW.
