Default Sapphire bumper sagging

My front bumper has started to sag slightly

Its the main part where the number plate fixes onto. Does heating them, jacking it up to straighten then leaving to cool work?

Any other suggestions?

No but a drill and a cable tie fixes it

Take it off. Only fixed at sides NOT at the front. The front bracket arrangements adjust the height only and it's these that fail causing the sagging.

Repair height adjustment brackets (it's obvious when you remove the bumper) although the repair can be a bit tricky.

Whilst you got it off repair side fixing brackets also as this fixing also fails.

Yeah, its the bit just above my number plate. You can sort of see it in my sig.

I checked the main metal bumper mounts last year when i had the bumper painted and they are fine...

I realise that but in order to solve the issue you have to remove the bumper and it's fixed at the sides only. The centre 'brackets' fail and thus the bumper sags but it is not fixed at the centre. HTH

Little update

Got it sorted! Turns out all i had to do was adjust the centre mounts and my problem was solved

I also noticed the plastic of the bumper was coming away from the backing foam, right at the top, so on my painters suggestion i shimmed it out with some plastic. Think it worked quite well! Still have to fine tune it, but i'm happy its sorted

Before - you can see the gap above the number plate

After

They are handy to get at with the bumper off. Torx 40 bolts. I soaked mine in wd40 for a few mins because they looked a bit rusty, but they adjusted fine!

That looks LOADS better. Possibly the best before and after photos I've seen! Except those breast enlargement ads

They are just behind the bumper mate. They are Torx 40 screws on the bit that slides into the chassis legs!

I'm actually going to adjust mine down slightly, probably do it tomorrow night, so i'll get a few pics for you then

you need a long bit of extension to get to them though, and they only have a limited amount of travel

It's only got 51K from new, but i've had the front painted within the last year.

Wanna buy it?

I just took my bumper off, if like me you still have the engine undertray on - its impossible to adjust without first removing that.

I recently took my bumper off and replaced the side brackets with stainless versions. Also had the sag issue - replaced the bottom stone deflectors with a new Ford part but couldn't see how the middle would adjust. So are the two slotted parts on back of bumper adjustable?

I'll be doing mine soon and will take pics then. When under the car you can see 2 big star head bolts, think it's them they're on about. Hopefully somebody will have it done before me!

Philip.
