hi,cleaned up all earth points,ran new earth from battery to earths beside lights,all was well,but when driving along lights went out total darkness!shit it!but dip worked,when i try to get main beam i think all in getting is side lights,fuses ok and relay seems to click like its working and bulbs ok,what else could of gone wrong(other than me tinkering!)?thanks again col93saphcos

in fuse box relay x terminal 30 bit melted struggled to get it out,cleaned relay terminal,replaced and relay clicks but still no main beam,any ideas?col93saphcos

I would start at the actual stalk, making sure you get a change in state when switching from dip to main, ford have used some odd ways of doing things at times, sometimes it is conventional sometimes not.
The switch to main beam could be a earth instead of a live, all you are looking for is a change, the dip wire will go dead, the main wire will go either live or earth, I seem to remember that the last one I worked on had me baffled for a while as it was earth switching on the lights to put them on, all depends how the relay is done.
