Default Saff cossie 4x4 cutting out.

What could cause a saff cossie to cut out.I was driving to work this morning for about 10 mins and the engine just seemed to die.The rev counter was reading about 500rpm.I conked out so i strted it back up and it was ok.It did it a few weeks ago too.I was leaving work this time and it just cut out.I pulled over and restarted the engine and it was spot on.Could it be the crank sensor?

No not that at all, I would hazzard a guess your idle speed is too low or idle co too lean.
I would firstly set your base idle, then check your co when hot is what it should be determined by whatever chip you are using.

My similar random cutting out turned out to be the coil lead worn through and shorting.

I might get it set properly cause its doing my head in now.I know that the engine is running rich and not lean.

It cut out again on the way to work then i start it back up and it runs again.Could the fuel relay be causing this.I replaced it when i first got the car about 3 years ago.I was also thinking that the crank sensor could be breaking down cause i have changed these on other cars in the past.Ive removed my ISCV and cleaned and lubed it.

Throttle positon sensor yeh.Does this not just tell the ecu where the throttle is atHow would it stall the engine,im only asking mind cause im interested.Howdo you set these sensors up when they get fitted.

The TPS is easy to set, just look up resistance, then adjust so it reads what it should by turning slightly if needed in the slotted holes.
These are set up at the factory when made, they have allen key inside that acts as a stop when the throttle is closed, normally they are bang on just letting them rest on the d shaft then pushing straight on tighten screws.
Normally they miss the lower part of the range as it is the most used so wears that much quicker, my one went tits up on a rolling road session, so I don't use them anymore, put a universal one on, 15 minutes work.

Do you have to take the throttle body off to fit these tps then.

I had a similar problem, changed various sensors, but in the end found out that it was the loom plug to the ecu that was cominging loose

If the tps is missing a section with no signal, presumaby the ecu might think there is no demand for and supply no fuel ?.
It is so much easier to take tb off to swap over, that way also you can dial it in if necessary whilst off the car as it is also then much easier before refitting.
