Hi All
So i am looking into a problem i have with the fan on my 4x4 saf.
When sat in traffic the heat starts to rise and twice its over heated. I have noticed that the fan is not coming on so the first place i was looking was the fuse box to see if the fuse had gone.
Q1: Any idea which fuse controls the fan?
When i was in the fuse box I noticed that one of the fuse mounts looks like its been cut/melted, so i took a pic, the fuse was a 30 amp jobby and was blown.

Q2: any idea what this fuse contorls?
Also as an FYI, I am next gonna be looking at the in car heating as no heat comes into the drivers compartment. It might be link.
Q3: does anyone else have any ideas for things to try/check for the fan?

Thats the fan fuse holder alright mate, unfortunately it is a standard problem so many of us have made a byepass system or bought one in to overide it all.
Tabs has done an explanation on here recently on how to rewire it and coswurv on here was selling one ready-made that he does - send him a pm maybe?
As for heater, could be the matrix in the dash - but before pulling it out try to flush it from the engine bay.

If its blocked this is how far you have to go to get it out!

Mine had a wierd problem though - the 'new' Ford pump had not been drilled correctly ;-(

Hi Andy
Ta for the point in the right direction.
I sent coswurv a PM and also found this premade loom on ebay, does it look like it will do the job? http://urlant.com//yvwjmu
fingers crossed, touch wood and sacrifice a chicken nugget. I really hope its not a dash out job for the heater![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

If there is absolutely no heat, check the bowden cables(operating cables) are moving as they should, but in all likelyhood it will be a dash out job to renew matrix, around £30.
Just before you take the matrix out there is a metal bracket that secures the bottom of the dash under ash tray area, if you drill out the rivetts on this it makes it a lot easier, I just did this and put mine back with some large self tappers.
By the way the heaters are fairly crap anyway, got a new matrix in mine with a 2nd new stat 88C, but not a patch on other cars like my g/f's astra mk3, man that is roasting!!
As said fan circuit burning out is std kit on these, so would be best redone as would the fuel pump too.
