At launch in the summer of 1987 they were £19,000 which rose to £21,300 by 1990 when the last were sold. (taken from 'The Sporting Fords' book). Hope this helps.

Yup - I can confirm those 2wd prices. I have the original press release from Jan 88 and it says 'exactly £19,000' in the blurb.
My car is one of the last G plates and cost 21,609 on the road - but that included the leather and metalic paint (Magenta) which were extras of course.
I got it in April '93 for £5,700 with full service history - it had only done 26,000. It was the 20th one I looked at and was mint - £8K was the highest price one then - think it was a H plate 4x4 though.
First Insurance quote was £3,600!!! But got it down to £12,000 which halved after the first year of ownership (apparently most were lost / damaged during the first year of ownership my broker said). So you can see how quickly they depreciated and why eh?
