Default rear diff/prop noise?

a noise has developed at the rear of my 2wd cossie,it just happened after overtaking on boost on the way home just there, its a kind of a humming sort of a noise, hard to describe it,but its only there on no throttle, when i accelerate or maintain a speed it dissappears, but when i ease off its there.any ideas what it might be before i go stripping the back end during the week?
any ideas appreciated,cheers.

Shane

Hmmmm does sound like the diff mate. take the rear seat squab out (only takes a jiffy), fold a seat down and listen again - should be easier to determin if it is the diff cos its just under there and the noise will transmit more.

This was how I tested mine with that noise - then after a run and a clunk it got a lot noisier and had to change it.

no i didnt check the wheel bearings, didnt think it would be them thou cos the noise is only there when the car is decelerating, thats why i thought its prob a diff bearing thats gone.ill check em this eve thou before i take the diff out just to make sure.
