Cossie ISCV
The iscv on my 4x4 cossie doesn't work. Changed it for a new one and it still won't work, wiring is ok but it doesn't seem to get enough power but once i put 12v to it, it then works ok. Anyone know how i can sort this, it's pissing me right off

The ISCV is a simple on/off device and the ECU uses PWM on it, basically it switches it on and off quickly, changing the speed that it switches to adjust how much air flows through it. There are two types of ISCV used which outwardly look identical but which are incompatible. At least one supplier has been caught out by being supplied one sort of valve in the packaging for the other sort.
You can drive around perfectly acceptably without the valve connected, just pull the plug off it and use a very small amount of throttle to start the car and blip the throttle to stop it stalling at idle until it gets warm.
To revive a flagging valve take it off the car, undo the M6 nut and remove the pintle. Gently stretch the spring that you find behind the pintle and use a load of carb cleaner to clean it all up and remove the soot. Re-assemble and refit. Often this is enough to get the valve working again, if though it's an electrical problem it won't help though.
