Default Ford Galaxy Wheels

Hope someone can help.

I have a 2002 Ford Galaxy and want to replace the Alloys, but I've been told
I have to have a certain type of tyre fitted with a reinforced side wall..

Is this true or can I just have standard low profile tyres fitted?

I'm asking as I want to put 17" Ford Alloys on, but didn't know if I
should use standard or reinforced tyres.

Don't forget the galaxy uses a different stud pattern to other fords as it is a VW underneath.

You won't get any modern ford alloys to fit as the stud pattern is wrong . Alloys off a Granada and a probe will go on and a lot of vw and merc alloys will fit. The stud pattern size is 5 x 112. I had 18" skoda Octavia vrs mk2 alloys on mine with 235 45 18 96 w tyres on and they were fine
