Have a problem with my 98 puma. It started with the abs light coming on, with the light on the brakes work as before so thought possibly a sensor needs changing, but now when the light occasionally goes out, the brakes are really bad! As if the pedal is traveling further and like the abs is switching on/off! Any ideas?

Ive got a fault with the abs on my puma since I put rear axle spacers in. The light would come on then go off then the brake pedal would buzz on my foot when pressed.
I think the sensors on mine need reseating.

When the light goes out I have the buzzing fault and poor brakes! Which is what's confusing! Nothing has been touched on the car it just appeared one day.
Does a normal fault code reader check the abs too then?

Check your sensor faces and the pick up rings. Mine was doing a similar thing and I think its cause the space between the abs sensor and the rear pick up rings are too big.

Thanks Glenn, had a look today and looks as if it's had a new sensor in the past and hasn't been fitted properly so has rubbed the wheel on full lock and got squashed. It doesn't look as tho the wires are damaged but the sheath is so going to replace it with new hopefully that will sort it.

Fingers crossed. I had a look at my puma today cause my abs light has been on for a few weeks. I wheel span the car into the workshop and the light went off lol.
Stuck the ford ids tester on and ive got faults on the rear sensors. Im wondering if the sensors arnt fitted correctly since I fitted the rear axle spacers.
