Have you had the fault codes read?

Buy the likes of F Super from ebay for £20, its brilliant for reading the codes and can also programme injectors.

My mechanics snap on reader couldn't see the EGR fault code on mine, F super showed it straight away

Mine did the same. It was the injectors. Did a leak off test. Injectors 3&4 were leaking buckets. Ended up being a bugger to start as the rail pressure won't build up. Found a guy on eBay who reconed them for £114 each and a 3 day turn around. Been spot on since. eBay item No. 161112898724

F-super should work. It's what I got for mine. I have a 53 2004 TDCI and it works for the PCM the injectors and airbags. All tho for some reason won't work the abs. Any how I can trace and delete dtc's gives codes and a vague description. I can even enter injector codes. I found the software a chew on to install into my laptop. Maybe you've not installed the software correctly!

Or do you mean it doesn't list your exact car? It doesn't list 2.2 Mondeo but I just went into diesel Mondeo and it works fine

I bought obd11 reader screen lights up but does not show anything, told it was probably the wrong code reader I was advised to buy the f-super after waiting weeks for it to arrive and lots of problems installing the software plugged it into the car and it says connection failed turn key on ,when I turn the key it just repeats the message short of setting fire to the car I don't know what to do next,

It will defo work for your car. It sounds yo me like the software hasn't been installed correctly. Failing that a faulty unit. I had hassle installing the software. You have to nominate a comm port and select it when you run the formidable app. The disc I had showed me how to do it via a short video.

A EOBD/OBD2 code reader should work on a 2004 diesel.
Does this code reader work on other (EOBD compliant) cars?
When yes, check wiring in your vehicle. When no, the unit was defective.

I vaguely remember having issues with ports tho it was a couple of years ago I installed it in a laptop.

If the correct port isn't selected then it will def show the connection error.

Think you have to go into the device management and find a free comm port. Between certain numbers. Then when you run formidable select the said port and it comes up with a list of cars. Think first time you do that it never a asks for a port again. Bit of a faff but once it's working it's usually pretty good for what it is and costs.
