hello im new to the site ive got a problem with my mondeo hope someone on here can help me ive got a 02 mondeo tdci 5 speed so think its the 115bhp car running lumpy under power got formidable f super dignostic put that on it and came up with p0251 fuel metering control a or something like that when i boot it it goes into limp mode when its boosting sound like somone just turnt the fan on there is a lot of black soot on top of the engine looks like its comming from number for injector changed the pipe from the air filter to the turbo because had a split thought it might be that aslo kicking out a lot of blackn smoke under accelration ant help would be great thank

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Check the EGR to intercooler pipe down the front left handside of the engine.. It's a known weakness and might explain the soot in the engine bay, the loud 'fan' noise and lack of boost.
start with the easy stuff first..

i was thinking of that but the egr vavle is at the back of the engine on my model not down on the left like others u dont thimk it could the injector seal could i feel it by hand or would i have to take it of if so how o i do that thanks for respone got the car at aution want bto try and get it done i got three cars at the min all of the road with problems so want to try and get one of working

I dont know..
but if it was an injector seal I would expect the engine to be wet with the diesel spray, not sooty.. if you can hear the turbo boosting up (the fan noise) then it does suggest a split somewhere in the turbo pipework.. most likely on the hot side of the turbo where the highest pressure is..

if im looking for a split from the turbo pipe work am i better of taking off the turbo heat sheild and working from the turbo back don the pipes till i find a split
