Default Mondeo st220 moose sound.

Okay this is for my dads St220. It's developed a strange sound when driving/ letting off throttle.
Sounds like someone blowing over the top of a bottle. Strange I know lol.
No lack of power or anything. Does anyone know of this fault ?
He's changed the air intake pipe return to throttle, possibly thinking it could idle control valve ?

has it got a non-standard airbox?

ST`s and cougars do this, nothing you can do from memory?!

My cougar would do this its the idle valve ,you could give it a clean but like mine it will just do it at times anyhow and has no poor effect ,just one of them v6 things! ps have a look on the US contour site they did have a cure by using a restrictor or different pipe but I tryed both with mixed results .

Thanks for the response, it's a standard air box etc.
He did say he cleaned the idle valve, as it wad sticking and it stopped the sound for a while.

The noise will come back, the IACV is faulty and needs replacing. Fitting a longer pipe is a bodge and masks the problem.

Only for the Mk2, the official fix for the Mk3 is replace the valve. If you cleaned it and its stopped, your lucky, but it will eventually fail completely, normally when the weather warms up.

Yeah the old man cleaned the valve out but was still making funny sounds lol.
In the end fitted a new valve a pipe.
