Hi
I am having problems with my manual air conditioning on my 53 plate 1.8LX Mondeo. I cannot switch it off, the switch is not lit but it runs all the time.
I am also unable to control the air flow direction which is stuck on the screen position. The air recycle switch also does not work and all backlights on the panel are not working. This all first started after I had to remove the battery for charging after the car was immobilized and I had to get towed home.
I have tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it, but the fault is still the same.

Is it pre or post facelift?
The ones with the round dials rather than the later ones have a reset function which stops this from happening
You would have to ask over on www.talkford.com as it's one of their sticky links but it resolves issues like this all the time

Briefly press both the "Off" & "Footwell" buttons & release, Press "Auto" button & release!
the system will run a self diagnostic - testing all segments of the display & Flap motors! Once the motors fall silent & display freezes! Press the "Defrost" button to reset the system, delete error codes from memory & exit diag mode! wait til the system again falls silent before running up to temperature & testing system. All of this takes around a minute to complete.

Hi
Thanks for the info about the air con, but there seems to be a little confusion about the type of control panel i have. Mine has a manual control with rotary control knobs; it was working fine until I had to remove the battery for charging. Thanks anyway for the help and the info.
