hi guys nw 2 this soo hello all had an st24 for my second car at 18,sold it n bought another car,but i miss it and i am lookin for either an st24 or 200,lookin at the 200 iv seen some dnt have full leather,and sum are not heated,was this optional extras?or did they come out with full leather after a certain reg?also are all the full leathers recaro?anything 2 look for when buying them ??dnt want 2 buy a pup you know,i no about the hole water pump thing and sumthing called moosing,not clear exactly what that iss,also whats the best filter 2 put on 2 maximise the grunt,and at what price?also eager 2 here your opinions,what makes you love the mondeo so much?i bought a car for 10,000 and missed my st24 it just has more soul,it talks 2 you when your driving it,it handles so well and is cumfortable,ohh and the gruntt,your views plzzz

That's interesting, I thought all ST200s had full leather, and the ST24s half leather. I think only the cars with recaro full leather were the limited edition saloons.
The options do vary a bit on ST24s as early cars 97/98 seem to me to be based on Ghia Xs, so can have more but then Ford obviously realised they could build them to a price, so later ST24s 99/00, of which mine is one, had subtle differences.
As for getting more grunt, my best 2 bits were a KN 57i induction filter (8 bhp) and decat pipe (about 10bhp). On the ST200, don't bother with an induction kit as too much heat and people have had problems with them, for the 200 best bet fit a KN etc panel filter in the original box. Some people have added extra cold air feeds on ST24 to the induction filter and on the ST200 extra cold air feed into the original filter box.
The decat pipe is a great mod, and should be OK for emissions at MOT as you still have the 2 precats, mines been thru 2 MOTs fine. If you get a decat pipe, just be sure you get the right end fixings, I know of 3 different types of end fixing depending on year of the car, that's why it took me ages to find mine, or if you get one made up then you will have no trouble.
Also, don't think changing to aftermarket exhaust will get you more power it won't, as I found out when on rolling road day, someone who just got new Ford exhaust fitted got same output as mine, which has twin exit system on it, but I prefer my twin pipe system, makes car look better in my opinion.

There are three types of seat for the 200 all of them RECARO:

1) Half Leather with raven inset (Early type seat when full leather was an option)
2) Full leather Recaro (Early option became standard around February 2000)
3) Ltd Edtion Blue/Grey leather. Only found in the Limited Edition Saloon's. These were the ONLY ST200 seats to be heated.


As for the DEcat pipes, FORD only list two types of cat and these are the standard V6 and the ST200/automatic. The only diffrence being that the standard has a two hole flange and the 200/auto has a three hole flange.

Agreed the best choice for simple power increases are a decent filter and a decat pipe. A replacement K&N panel filtyer works but I disagree with Steve as I have had the best results with either a Piper Cross GBiper or a K&N cone with plenty of cold air feeds. The key is to get as many cold air feeds to the filter as possible to help stop the hot air generated by the engine being inducted.

Whilst Ford did do a good job on the exaust you CAN get power gains from having a custom one made. My 200 estate sits at 243bhp and this is one of the best bhp figures for a normaly aspirated 2.5 V6 Mondeo.

u got any pics of your car??i really don't no what 2 go for ,iv 3options,st24 st200 or bmw528i se,bmw has really low milage and i would b getting it from a friend jst round the corner from me ,also i seen a couple of normal st200 with ppl talking of heated seats,is it possible that it has been done custom ??
