St170 rs conversion
Started doing a four door as a bit of a sleeper track day car but bloody thing rotted away before fitting.
I am still working on the engine until I find another. Mine is more a turbo st / Zetec / Rs hybrid.

Just about finished reworking the st170 engine wiring loom to work with the Rs 6myd ecu.
And I've made up a test rig to check the dash and the ecu out.

ive just got the engine in. Theres a few things i need to get yet and i work away so hard to get time to work on it but progress is good. Got a t36 turbo for it so need alot of mods
Hello mate nice i have the rs clocks too for my st but I my engine came with all looms etc so I shouldn't have any problems. Think I just need to change a small section of loom between ecu and fuse box so my boost gauge works. Why don't you get that lump dropped in something seems a waste on a frame. Did you build the engine yourself or buy it?

Hi
I know where your coming from as I spent 2 months in Spain working before Christmas and am now struggling to get started again
I think that the engineers at Ford know more than me!! so when they were looking at fitting a Turbo to the focus they ditched all of the ST170 stuff and went back to using the mtx gearbox with a solid flywheel, fitted heavy duty clutch and drive shafts and an ecu to cope so I would assume that's the way to go.
Luckily mine is a standard 2 litre so its been easy to fit the standard RS bits, drive shafts, hubs, brakes and front suspension, I will be using the standard inlet but with RS injectors Omex ecu and RS manifold and turbo, yes basically every thing from the RS as that has to be the easiest way.
As I said above Ford did not use the ST170 gearbox and dual mass flywheel for a reason so can a mtx gearbox be fitted or are you sticking with the ST box and flywheel?
As for mine I am waiting for an actuator to arrive (in the post) before fitting the manifold and turbo, then I need to sort out the oil lines and intercooler ( bought a universal front mount to get started) my engine is St170 based with a thick head gasket but I wish now that I had just bought the RS engine. Anyway I will update my thread when I get something done
Keep up the good work and keep the updates coming they might motivate me, you never know

Yeah mate i will do. I need to buy an intercooler too. I'm using the rs box and shafts I've had to customise as I'm just going to use st suspension for now. Maybe change it when it's back on the road but I'm not sure what to use yet maybe just standard 2.0 hubs and mtx standard shafts might fit without having to widen the track on the st. I took 5mm off half the st shaft so I could use half of rs shaft but now I have play so will need a proper fix.
i also need turbo ally gasket and oil feed and water outlet
fuel return pipe needs fitting
fuel pump needs fitting
piece of loom from ecu to fuse box
remove air con
intercooler kit needs to be purchased and fitted
seimens 660cc injectors I need
bigger Maf sensor I also need
Then the bitch should be running sweet after a map 450+ bhp I hope to get

I am thinking about putting it in a Mondeo

That engine is just for mock up. The final one is on the stand.
I've got a ttv fly to go in the 6 speed.
I love playing with engines.
All sounds very good and I bet you get it running before I get mine.
There is no point changing the hubs so stick with the St170's and the standard 2.0 shafts and bearing mount is what you need but for that power they will have to be made stronger I would have thought. I am only aiming for 200bhp keeping it simple for now
