ST225 - Strange Squeal
My car (07, standard) has started making a high pitched squeal just at the last second as the car comes to a halt and again when pulling away. The tone descends as the car's stopping and ascends when pulling away if that makes sense (I thought it may be turbo related at first as that's the kind of sound effect I mean, like a turbo slowing down and spooling up).
It only does it intermittently, and whenever I've tried to listen outside of the car with the Mrs driving it hasn't done it (sods law, and no it's not her making the noise!). It does always seem to be when warmed up though. Also, the car has to actually move for it to do it; I've tried releasing the clutch with the hand brake on to simulate pulling away but it won't make the noise. It's doesn't seem engine speed related either; it's really noticeable in fact if I just slowly release the clutch without pressing the accelerator. Finally, strangely enough it doesn't do it when reversing, the car has to be moving forward....
I hope that's given you something to go on, if you need any more information just ask and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks in advance, much appreciated!
